Join the Minnesota Department of Heath's in a position which exists to provide accounting support in the Accounting Operations Unit of the Financial Management Division.

Working as the Account Clerk Senior within the team, you will:

  • Provide accurate and timely data entry services for various types of payments on behalf of the Agency.

  • Respond to related payment inquiries when necessary.

  • Support and provide backup to the Vendor payment Team Lead and Account Clerks within Accounts Payable Unit.

  • Perform miscellaneous accounting tasks as assigned.

  • Provide back up support to the lead position, requiring in-office work to process the mail for Financial Management Division.

This is a hybrid telework position that require in-person meetings as well as in-office work in the downtown St. Paul location. Telework will be based on the business needs of the unit and is at supervisory discretion.

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.

One (1) year of experience providing administrative support duties for financial records, such as inputting and accessing data into accounting systems, approving and preparing invoices, and processing expenses. Required experience must also include:

  • Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information in person, on the phone and through email and other written correspondence.

  • Data entry skills sufficient to input quickly and accurately.

Minimum qualifications to be assessed during the interview process:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.

Master's degree in related field may substitute for 18 months of experience; bachelor's degree in related field may substitute for one year of experience; associate's degree in related field may substitute for six months of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook.

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records, and reports.

  • Experience paying invoices and entering data into the accounting system SWIFT (Statewide Integrated Financial Tools)
