Peoples Health Centers Family of Companies Mammography / Radiology Technician in St. Louis, Missouri

Summary: Proficiency in routine procedures in radiology department. Perform mammogram as directed by physician. General x-ray work includes chest, extremities, and headwork (skull & sinuses) radiographic exams. Pediatric and podiatry constitutes a major portion of radiological procedures at PHC. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Perform a variety of technical tasks involved in operating x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body. Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure technique in accordance with radiation safety guidelines. Perform all procedures in accordance with radiation safety guidelines. Perform all procedures in accordance with established protocols as outlined in the procedure manuals, ensuring diagnostic quality as set by the radiologist and/or community standards. Position patients for each anatomical view using necessary immobilization and protective equipment.Accurately process images for optimal quality. Match with appropriate paperwork for interpretation.Demonstrate acceptable film quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factor collimation.Follow established procedures ensuring radiation protection for patients and co-workers.Perform safety checks and quality control procedures on equipment and reports malfunction to appropriate person(s).Maintain required department records, reports, and files necessary to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment .Perform other related supportive duties: a. Maintains film library (filing, etc.), safety in department and patient privacy throughout procedure. b. Answers the telephone; make reminder calls to scheduled patients, coordinates services with off-site agencies. c. Maintain cleanliness of department and its equipment. Provide patients, physicians, and others with proper instructions for preparation of examinations. Maintain established department policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Assists the Sonographer with exams as requested. Assists the technologists with exams as requested. Provides education and training to participating students from affiliated radiology technical program(s). Manages time to ensure patient flow and visit timeliness within department; participate in annual department time study. Check for and obtain proper consents and/or referrals for procedures performed. Ensures that a radiologist interprets all exams in a timely manner. Maintains radiation safety regulations and dosimeter badge requirements. Functions within the legal and ethical parameters of profession, as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and according to the policies of People’s Health Centers, Inc. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software and Word Processing software. Proficient with computer use: BCA system, Microsoft Word, and Infinity EMR/EHR. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technology (AART). Certified or eligible for Advanced Mammography Qualifications.
