Job Description

If you are Procurement Professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an opening for you! Based in Sidney, OH or St. Louis, MO , you will be responsible for owning the strategic procurement and management of the Non-Ferrous Metals category, including copper & aluminum magnet winding wire, and aluminum ingot, across all regions. This role involves developing and implementing global sourcing strategies, negotiating with key suppliers, leading supplier relationships, and ensuring the continuous supply of materials at optimal costs. This position will manage the Global commodity hedging programs for copper and aluminum. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive cost savings, improve supplier performance, and support the overall strategic goals of the organization.

As a Commodity Manager/Senior Commodity Manager, you will be responsible for:

1.    Category Strategy Development and Implementation:

      •     Develop and implement a comprehensive global sourcing strategy for the Non Ferrous Metals category.

      •     Manage and place financial commodity hedges. Identify market trends, risks, and opportunities to ensure the category strategy aligns with business objectives.

      •     Conduct market analysis to identify standard processes, benchmark costs, and identify potential suppliers.

2.    Supplier Relationship Management:

      •     Establish and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable supply and continuous improvement.

      •     Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure the best possible terms, including price, delivery, and quality.

      •     Develop and implement supplier performance metrics and lead supplier performance through regular reviews.

3.    Cost Management:

      •     Drive cost reduction initiatives and find opportunities for cost savings.

      •     Collaborate with finance and leadership to align on hedging strategies.

4.    Cross-Functional Collaboration:

      •     Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure alignment of procurement strategies with product requirements and quality standards.

      •     Partner with regional operational teams to ensure consistent global execution of category strategies.

5.    Risk Management:

      •     Develop contingency plans to ensure supply continuity in the event of supplier disruptions or market volatility.

6.    Continuous Improvement:

      •     Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve procurement processes, tools, and systems.

      •     Stay informed of industry developments and new technologies to drive innovation within the category.

Required Education, Experience & Skills:

  • BA/BS in Business, Engineering, Materials, Supply Chain or related degree.

  • Detailed market knowledge in commodity industry gained through the following: experience in engineering, operations and/or marketing, or first-hand procurement negotiation knowledge.

  • 3+ years Procurement experience, in a manufacturing background required

  • Strong presentation, communication and leadership skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management

  • Strong analytical skills and Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Legal work authorization in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills:

  • MBA

  • Five (5) years Sourcing experience

  • Prior work experience in a global organization preferred

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 25% to suppliers and operational plants globally

Flexible Work Schedule – Remote Work Option and Core Hours

This role has the flexibility of a hybrid remote work option up to three days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers. This role has potential for full remote work in certain situations.
