Job Overview

Reporting to Sourcing Manager, the Buyer will oversee and plan delivery schedules, working closely with operations, transportation, and suppliers to ensure that material availability aligns with installations. The Buyer also compiles and distributes reports to ensure that customers and internal teams (operations, sales, transportation, and finance) are serviced with product and order availability information. The Buyer will actively achieve KPI's which will maximize company profit, customer satisfaction and on-time delivery through well constructed plans and management of resources. Requires a solid foundation of function skills and knowledge in relevant purchasing and sourcing concepts.

A Day In The Life

  • Maintain relationships and performance of existing suppliers and take action as the need arises.

  • Lead purchasing activities to ensure that sufficient parts are on hand to meet short range schedules for project installations.

  • Liaison between sales, suppliers, operations, to ensure the customers needs are met in a timely basis.

  • Monitor orders to ensure suppliers are shipping on time and expedite as needed.

  • Assist in the resolution of supplier quality and payment issues with both internal departments and the supplier.

  • Ensure an uninterrupted supply of materials while optimizing cost, lead-time, and quality.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations, and monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contracts and agreements

  • Collect data on reasons why a schedule is missed and collate into useful information for management review and action.

  • Create reports and other tools as needed to support the planning process.

  • Provide information and support as requested to other departments.

  • To identify and instigate process improvements

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • 3-5 years' of purchasing and/or experience in supply chain environment

  • Must have experience leading supplier relationships and negotiations

  • Strong experience working with MRP systems; SAP highly preferred

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent level of numeracy and literacy

  • Able to work under pressure and responds quickly to changes

  • Proactive, motivated, well organized and able to work well with others.
