Diesel Mechanic- Secret Clearance – Direct Hire

Location: Springfield, VA

Salary: $180-197K

Security Clearance: Minimum Secret

Certifications:

• ASE Certification (must be provided within 30 days of employment)

• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with all endorsements

  Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic for an onsite role in Springfield, VA. This position requires a minimum of a Secret clearance, with TS/SCI preferred. The mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to ensure operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose & Repair: Inspect, diagnose, and isolate vehicle and equipment malfunctions using a full range of diagnostic tools and testing equipment.

• Troubleshooting: Trace and locate mechanical and electrical defects, determining whether repairs should be handled in-house or by an external vendor.

• Vendor Coordination: Obtain price quotes and oversee vendor repairs when necessary.

• General Maintenance & Emergency Repairs: Perform repairs on components such as brakes, tune-ups, trailer doors, leaks, air hoses, belts, oil changes, batteries, lighting, locks, windows, starters, alternators, sensors, and hydraulics.

• Diagnostic Systems: Utilize onboard computer diagnostic systems, automotive control and emissions test equipment, calipers, gauges, and microcomputers for troubleshooting.

• Technical Documentation: Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, logic ladders, service manuals, and flow charts to diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment.

• Equipment & Tool Usage: Work with a variety of tools, including hand and power tools, shop equipment, scanners, meters, and gauges.

• Emergency Road Calls: Respond to emergency breakdowns within the local area, performing minor on-site repairs or coordinating towing to the sponsor compound or third-party maintenance vendor.

• Vehicle Testing: Conduct road tests to ensure repairs are effective and meet operational standards.

• Reporting & Documentation: Assist senior mechanics or sponsor personnel with regular maintenance reports per standard operating procedures.

  Qualifications & Requirements:

  Active Secret Clearance (TS/SCI preferred)

  ASE Certification (must be provided within 30 days of employment)

  Class A CDL with all required endorsements

  Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, with expertise in troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines and vehicle systems

  Strong ability to diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues

  Proficiency in reading technical schematics and using diagnostic tools

  Ability to respond to emergency breakdowns and road calls
