This position supports the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Office of Mission Management (DOM) who is responsible for the integration of GEOINT across the Intelligence Community, DoD, and National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG) and Allied System for Geospatial Intelligence (ASG). This position supports Senior Advisor to Mission Management (SAMM) and multiple GEOINT Mission Managers (GMM) and requires the ability to work well with multiple levels of leadership, with a strong customer service focus.

Currently ManTech is seeking a m customer-oriented Data Scientist to join our team in Springfield, Virginia .

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain and alter, when needed, the tools/programs/databases used within the organization.

  • Work across organizational boundaries to obtain data and metrics from Directorates across NGA and the NSG.

  • Find and interpret rich data sources, manage large amounts of data despite hardware, software, and bandwidth constraints.

  • Merge data sources and ensure consistency of datasets.

  • Create visualizations to aid in understanding data.

  • Build mathematical models using the data and present and communicate the data insights/findings effectively to both specialists in their team and to non-expert audiences.

  • Possess functional knowledge and implementation of NGA’s analytic processes. Perform mathematics, probability models, machine learning, statistical learning, computer programming, data engineering, pattern recognition and learning, visualization, uncertainty modeling, data warehousing, and high-performance computing with the goal of extracting meaning from data and creating data products.

  • Create and adhere to various SOPs for the tools and processes used within the office.

  • Conduct statistical analysis on postproduction review data and visually display analysis for NGA and ODNI consumers.

  • Attend regularly scheduled support meetings and stay current with ongoing production support initiatives and evolutions regarding data and their related databases.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years work experience in a related field with superior-level knowledge and skills.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in statistics, mathematics, image science, remote sensing, earth science, physical science, or related technical or scientific field; OR 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree

  • Experience with MS Office, data mining, ability to develop and manipulate and maintain databases.

  • Experience using COTS Statistical Software.

  • Develop mathematical algorithms and applications in response to complex requirements.

  • Experience in the review and management of data, metrics, databases, and data services.

  • Coding experience to support writing scripts with tools such as, but not limited to, Java and Python.

  • Use Share Point, Tableau, Redmine, and other systems/databases to manipulate and build data visualization.

  • Strong data management skills.

Desired Skills

  • Background in advanced analytics, data manipulation, and experience at creating transformational exploitation methodologies.

  • Background in GEOINT Analysis and the application of metrics to drive analytic activities.

  • Working knowledge and functional understanding of NGA’s analytic processes, procedures, data creation, and codification conducted by division and branch level geospatial analysts.

  • Work on multiple projects with simultaneous deadlines in a high tempo environment.

  • Experience in data manipulation and processing to flesh out new methods of advanced analytics.

  • Experience in process quality control.

  • Experience in problem identification and analysis.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of the NGA, and DoD production processes.

  • Understand ODNI ICD 203, ICD 206, and ICD 501 pertaining to IC analysis and reporting, and tradecraft and quality.

  • Review standard and non-standard data products to determine and implement the appropriate metadata and keyword tagging and editing metadata as appropriate.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • TS/SCI with ability to obtain and maintain Poly

Physical Requirements:

  • Remain in a stationary position 50%.

  • Constantly position self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet.

  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copier, scanner, and computer printer.

  • Frequently communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
