Available Title(s): 323I-YNCSNPS - Research Technologist 2 Business Title: Research Technologist 2 | Grigsby Laboratory Employee Type: Classified Position Details: The Opportunity: Located in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, this Research Technologist position contributes to the fulfillment of the university's mission and vision by providing support to the Grigsby laboratory in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Additional information about the Grigsby Laboratory can be found here: https://pharmacy.wsu.edu/about/directory/wsu-profile/kolter.grigsby/ In this role, you will conduct research on neural mechanisms of motivated behaviors (namely harmful alcohol intake and physical activity) using behavioral, circuit-driven, and molecular/cellular approaches. You will design and carry out experiments in pre-clinical animal models under the direction of the principal investigator. You will also provide general support to ensure the laboratory operates safely, smoothly, and efficiently. Other duties include maintaining laboratory equipment, ordering supplies, and managing animal colonies. This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary: $3,477.00 to $4,632.00 | Range 40 | Steps A-M | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with https://app.leg.wa.gov/WAC/default.aspx?cite=357-28 Step M is typically a longevity step. Essential Duties: 50% Laboratory and Animal Research 15% Laboratory Maintenance 15% Procurement and Inventory Maintenance 15% Training 5% Miscellaneous Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field of technology OR science, AND one year of research experience equivalent to Research Technologist 1 OR one year of full-time post-Bachelor's college in an appropriate field of science OR technology; OR equivalent education/experience. Additional Requirements: • B.S. degree in genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, neurology, biology, or related field required with preferred focus on molecular biology techniques and animal handling skills or equivalent education/experience. • Familiarity with basic research design. • Prior working experience in a preclinical research lab, ordering and maintaining lab inventory, and standardization of protocols. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in animal handling, surgery, and animal behavior. • Experience with molecular biology and cell/tissue culture • Experience in ordering and maintaining lab inventory, and standardization of protocols. • Authored or co-authored peer-reviewed publication(s). • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
