Responsibilities

Northwest Specialty Hospital, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, brings expanded services to a new building located at 6223 Sharlands Ave. in Northwest Reno. The facility will offer acute rehabilitation and adult behavioral health services.

Our acute rehabilitation services include occupational, speech, and physical therapy for adults recovering from stroke, injury, or another disabling condition. We offer advanced treatment for a wide range of conditions including stroke, brain injury, amputation, neurological disorders, major multiple traumas and spinal cord and back injuries. All patients will experience private rooms, have access to a newly renovated therapy gym, and personalized care from our qualified staff.

This Director of Rehabilitation/Therapy Services will oversee our NEW NW Specialty Hospital. This opportunity is full time, offers full benefits and a convenient flexible schedule. This dynamic individual will be r esponsible for directing inpatient, acute rehabilitation, wound care, and outpatient therapy services. Coordinates and supervises operations of the departments. Collaborates to continually improve the process of assessment, planning, facilitation, care coordination, evaluation, discharge planning and advocacy for options and services to meet the patient and family comprehensive health needs. Duties also include business development and planning for strategic growth. Collaborates with the department Directors/Managers and Physicians to support appropriate documentation as it relates to quality, patient care and safety. Develops and coordinates processes to improve staff effectiveness and efficiencies related to therapy treatment plans. Assures competency of all personnel. Assists in formulating budget, evaluates department performance versus budget and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines. Develops and implements system of reviewing department charges, ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all state, federal com and local regulatory laws and Joint Commission Standards. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for direction of the therapy services department staff. Supports and empowers staff to embrace the mission and value statements of the organization.

  • Oversees and interacts with admissions, nursing and other personnel regarding admissions and discharges to the acute rehab unit

  • Develops and enforces appropriate corporate/department standards and policies to promote a smooth and seamless care and transition of patients throughout the continuum of care for a rehabilitation/therapy standpoint.

  • Standardizes the approach and documentation on developing the plan of care to be inter-disciplinary and inclusive of all stakeholders, including the patient and family.

    Qualifications

  • Current State licensure or certification as an RN, RPT, OTR and/or speech pathologist.

  • 5 years of clinical experience and 3-5 years of supervisory experience required

  • Three or more years of previous experience in aspects of rehabilitative and/or therapeuatic medicine.

  • At least two years previous experience in management of therapy services or related department.

  • Current BLS certification.
