Overall accountable for IT systems & solutions that enable the commercial business strategy for our global network of Distributors. Operational responsibility for the business operations support for over 80 ERP instances of SAP Business One, eCommerce, Marketing and Engineering Services platforms. Organization is responsible to design, build, and deliver external facing digital-first commercial solutions that solve complex global problems and drive business value.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

​​The Director Commercial IT Platforms has a high degree of interaction with the executive group, corporate committees as well as department leadership making it crucial to be business savvy, markets focused skilled at systems thinking, persuasion, negotiation and influence stressing the importance of business analysis and relationships. A key component of this position is the ability to communicate effectively to bridge the gap between functional subject matter expertise and systems technology leveraging the enterprise process model (EPM). The role provides for strategic and tactical execution of all external-facing technology solutions and is responsible to ensure effective development and implementation of commercial platforms in support of business strategies. Specifically, staying ahead of go-to-market strategies and technical and related business intelligence solutions, establishing organizational alignment, and being an evangelist and advocate for new enterprise capabilities. This position will also oversee the portfolio of technology projects that benefits or impacts Swagelok stakeholders and establish mechanisms to ensure Swagelok is getting the maximum value from available technology.

​Strategy and Influence:

​Works with the Swagelok executives and directors to understand go-to-market strategies, identify ways that technology and data can add value, and mobilizes cross-functional teams to realize the opportunities.

​Builds collaborative relationships and effectively interacts frequently with both business and/or technology senior leaders. Interactions range from strategic, project, and operational decisions. Interacts well with diverse groups within function and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.

​Drives opportunities to improve business processes and/or effective budget utilization.

​Makes key decisions that are guided by established strategies and priorities, including the ownership of the Systems Transformation Roadmap. Influences operating policies and procedures that affect Swagelok. Interprets enterprise-wide policies, processes and procedures that may affect teams and workflow.

​Partner with the business to purchase, configure, develop and integrate systems that support the product and service requirements of the Swagelok organization and its Distributors around the world.

​As part of the Information Services leadership team contribute to:

Approximate # of direct reports – Direct Reports: 3 to 8; Indirect Reports: 10 to 40

Budget responsibility – $4 million to $25 million – depending on projects being performed

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required. MBA preferred.

Experience: 10+ years of experience working in IT operations, supervising technology teams, and overseeing large information technology projects specifically in the commercial platforms domain. SAP experience preferred.

Skills: Excellent understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with teams across the entire organization. Excellent leadership and decision-making skills. Strong knowledge of project management principles.

Working Conditions and/or /Physical Requirements:

  • Working conditions associated with normal office environment.

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, copier, printer, etc.).

  • Ability to effectively communicate in both small and large groups and settings.

  • Ability to traverse between multiple locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania as needed.

  • Domestic and/or international travel is required. (In instructions we will put that they need to enter this is there is a % of travel indicated)

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
