Overview Beautician St. Catherine of Siena Nursing and Rehabilitation and St. Catherine of Siena Hospital are proud members of Catholic Health and have served the residents of the Smithtown area for more than 50 years. Job Details Responsibilities: The beautician provides hair cutting, hair styling and related services to patients in a health care setting beauty shop. Performs all work in accordance with all applicable state, federal guidelines and requirements. Shaves, cuts and shapes hair of patients by trimming and tapering using clippers, scissors, razors and other hand or mechanical appliances. Styles, sets, combs out and curls hair of patients by hand or mechanical appliances. Shampoos hair and scalp with water, liquid soap or dry powder and rinses hair with water or prepared rinses. Permanently waves hair by application of lotions, waving solution or other preparations, winds hair around rollers or pin curls and finger waves hair by hand or mechanical appliances. Massages scalp and gives other hair and scalp conditioning treatments for hygienic or remedial purposes by hand or mechanical appliances. Provides wig care service for patients such as setting, styling, washing and cleaning. Positions patients for beauty treatments, wheels non-ambulatory patients in and out of beauty shop. Contacts floor to make appointments for patients and maintains records of treatments to patients. Cleans chairs, combs, scissors and cabinets. Sterilizes work-related tools and equipment and maintains sanitary conditions of beauty shop while adhering to Infection Prevention guide lines. Obtains, receives and stores records and safeguards equipment, materials and supplies. Performs other related duties, as assigned. Qualifications: Valid cosmetology license issued by the New York State Department of State (NYSDOS); and Knowledge of methods used in maintaining proper grooming of hair, knowledge of sanitary requirements in practice of hairdressing and cosmetology; knowledge of beauty culture equipment and supplies and skill in applying beauty and cosmetology techniques.
