Reporting to the Director of Labor and Delivery
The Nurse in Charge (NIC) is a designated clinical leader for a patient care area who works under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Department Director to plan and coordinate care at the service/department level.
Our Labor and Delivery nurses provide comprehensive care to women during one of the most significant times of their lives: childbirth. Our unit is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed by a team of highly skilled professionals committed to ensuring a safe and comfortable birthing experience. We provide personalized care for a diverse patient population, handling everything from low-risk deliveries to high-risk obstetric cases.
Responsibilities:
Cost effective decision-making regarding operations including utilization and application of resources. (i.e., human resources, patient care environment, supplies, etc.)
Directing and supervising professional and non-professional staff
Determining staff assignment and scheduling
Assuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Participating in the development of patient care standards and delivery of care processes.
Facilitating and participating in staff development, including orientation and training.
Participating in performance evaluation and management including verbal coaching and counseling.
Participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the quality improvement and safety plan.
Maintaining a clinical environment that demonstrates service excellence.
Functioning as a professional role model and resource person.
What you will need:
Required:
Baccalaureate in nursing required. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of specialty specific experience in an acute care setting.
Advanced computer skills to include data entry and retrieval, including Microsoft specialty products.
Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends English language.
Ability to effectively communicate complex and comprehensive information thoroughly and succinctly.
