THE LEISURE WORLD OF MARYLAND CORPORATION GOLF COURSE TECHNICIAN II in Silver Spring, Maryland

Leisure World of Maryland Corporation (LWMC) the property management company for Leisure World of Maryland a private, age-restricted community comprised of 29 housing associations and 8,000 residents located in Montgomery County, Maryland seeks (3) full-time

reliable Golf Course Technician to perform daily golf course maintenance

including mowing of greens, tees, fairways and roughs; raking of bunkers; weed eating; leaf blowing; tree work; filling divots; and placement of water coolers on course.

The employee must regularly

be able to

lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The scheduled hours are, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and every other weekend from, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and BASIC DUTIES

  • Maintains turf and landscape by applying knowledge and experience in performing all assigned grounds/course tasks. Operates a variety of equipment and tools including but not limited to golf carts, mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, bunker rakes, pruning equipment, rollers, aerators, top dressers, pruning equipment, string line trimmers, blowers and sweeper.
  • Applies fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides and insecticides.
  • Participates in annual and perennial landscape and bed installation, maintenance, and transplanting including flowers, trees, shrubs, aquatic vegetation and naturalized areas. Maintains health and vigor of plants.
  • Performs duties associated with installation, maintenance and repair of drainage and irrigation systems. Performs programming and monitoring of irrigation system to achieve proper plant care.
  • Performs minor maintenance and repair of grounds care equipment.
  • Operates heavy equipment such as backhoe and trencher.
  • Provides operational guidance and support to other golf personnel including part-time and seasonal members.
  • As directed, performs daily course setup such as changing cups and tee services.

PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

In addition to the Leisure World of Maryland Corporation (LWMC) staff and contract personnel, the Golf Course Technician principal working relationships are members of Leisure World of Maryland Golf, their family/friends and community residents in general.

LICENSE

A valid driver's license and clean driving record.

EDUCATION

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

YEARS AND TYPE OF EXPERIENCE

1 or more years of commercial landscaping experience and/or training.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

:

  • Ability to consistently provide a high level of accurate work delivered in a timely manner

  • Ability to identify and respond to customer needs in a courteous manner
  • Ability to understand verbal instructions and read work orders and schedules
  • Ability to operate a motor Vehicle (Golf Technician II Only)
  • Ability to regularly work with and handle fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides and insecticides.
  • Ability to communicate effectively utilizing various technologies such as telephone, computer, web, e-mail, etc.
