Job Title: Assistant Consultant, Geology
Location: 6 Research Drive, Suite 260, Shelton, CT 06484
Duties: Well drilling oversight for potable well and monitoring well installation. Step-drawdown well yield testing and long-term aquifer pumping test coordination, oversight and data processing and interpretation. Long-term groundwater monitoring programs equipment installation, water-level monitoring data collection, and data processing and interpretation. Piezometer installation, stream gaging, wetland and surface water-level monitoring data collection, and data interpretation. Water sample collection, sample handling and transport, water-quality results review and interpretation. Oversight of mechanical and chemical well cleaning and redevelopment activities. Water-level monitoring equipment maintenance and repair. Salary is $75,525.00/yr. Equal Opportunity Employer. Standard corporate benefits.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field. 6 months of experience as a Geologist, Research Assistant, or related position. Experience must include: Conducting water quality monitoring and sampling by collecting groundwater and surface water samples for Inorganic ion concentration analysis and measuring water quality parameters using YSI Probes. Reviewing and interpreting water quality lab results. Conducting groundwater data collection using water level equipment to measure changes in groundwater levels, processing and interpreting data using ArcGIS, Microsoft Excel, and R, and presentation of data in graphs and maps. Stream gauging data collection using a flowmeter to measure the flow of surface water, processing data using Microsoft tools to develop a stage-discharge relationship (rating curve) method, and interpreting the data to monitor the relationship between the groundwater and surface water.
