Summary:

At Meta Reality Labs we aim to bring together the brightest cross-disciplinary minds in one place to deliver on our mission: build tools that help people feel connected, anytime, anywhere. As a Product Design Engineer, you will take a critical role in developing hardware systems for Mixed Reality, or New Technology Initiatives. You will become part of a team exploring developing concepts through prototyping and into mass-production consumer electronics. You will work as part of a cross functional team requiring collaboration and curiosity in domains other than mechanical engineering.

Required Skills:

Product Design Engineer Responsibilities:

1. Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems

2. Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping product

3. Push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problems while working with cross functional technical teams

4. Design for Manufacturability - Ensure the design is robust and the equipment, process and materials are scalable to ramp

5. Collaborate with internal cross functional teams and external industry partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

6. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, and consumer electronics industry experience of at least 5 years

7. Demonstrated mechanical engineering fundamentals, prototyping skills, 3d/2d drawing skill.

8. 5+ years of hands-on product design and development experience in high volume consumer electronics, including complex subsystems and/or full systems ownership

9. Experience working with contract manufacturers on process and equipment development for optical assembly

10. Experience performing and designing DOEs, tolerance analysis, GD&T,data analysis, SPC control, Gauge R&R, root cause investigation, failure analysis, implement corrective action

11. Working knowledge in material properties, such as plastics, metal, adhesive, and glass

12. Experience leading communications with cross-functional partners, fluent English

13. Testing and analysis experience (TA, DFMEA, Design of Experiments, etc.)

14. Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques (stamping, machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.

15. Experience with NX CAD Experience designing and shipping products with Asia-based supply chain
