Job Description
OBJECTIVES:
This position will lead Indirect Procurement delivery within sub-region and be the senior level contact interface with the category and regional Procurement organizations.
It is responsible to lead and manage Procurement Managers to deliver the appropriate support to the business to ensure the sub-region business unit’s goals and strategy are met and accounted for in the Procurement Organization’s strategies, plans and activities.
Work alongside the senior management team in contributing to overall business objectives. The Procurement Lead will be a critical member of the business unit’s Leadership Team.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Establish a robust and sustainable procurement function within the business unit to ensure sub-region, region and corporate business goals and objectives are met.
Act as Primary Business Partner for the sub-region, representing Real Estate, facilities and procurement:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with procurement strategy
Communicate with stakeholders the impact of market change and potential effects on supply
Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimizing cost
Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on procurement activities
Through the application of rigorous tools, processes, systems, and techniques provide material and measurable business value (operational, financial, risk, innovation) to the business unit and corporation.
Develop and execute strategic business processes – category and supplier management, KPI reporting, etc.
Develop, monitor and deliver the appropriate Procurement KPIs as they relates to the sub-region
Ensure alignment between category activities and sub-region/ regional requirements.
Drive continuous improvement while ensuring compliance, and improving efficiencies and effectiveness.
Ensure high level of reliability in customer delivery and maintain strong strategic relationships and partnerships with suppliers.
People management:
Establish clear roles and responsibilities and that these are clearly communicated and understood
Provide leadership, coordination and coaching to the team, ensuring they are trained enabling them to achieve the operational and financial metrics within their areas of responsibility and succeed in their roles
Conduct the individual performance management process and contribute any feedback to other resources as requested by their performance managers
Develop a succession plan for the team to support career development and ensure a pipeline of talent for the region
Coordinate with TBS and ensure the overall efficiency of the low value sourcing process through effective sourcing, transactional contracting and maintenance of effective buying channels for the sub-region.
Provide timely input as requested to the budgetary and OPEX process including expected spend levels, resource requirements and special projects for their sub-region.
Understand the challenges of the organization and awareness of Takeda’s future direction and business challenges to successfully adapting the appropriate strategies, structure and approach to cost-effectively support the evolving needs.
Qualifications & S:
Skill Requirements:
University degree or equivalent work experience ideally with additional Post-Graduate qualification in business administration, marketing, business-process management
6 or more years business experience in the pharmaceutical or related industries
A minimum of 5 years’ experience leading business-related operational functions in an international company with proven results history of managing regional projects and negotiations
Significant procurement background and experience in selecting, working with and evaluating external vendors and agencies, ideally in a direct material / R&D and indirect environment
Team-leading and people management experience. Ability to attract and develop resources within the organization.
Demonstrated organizational and change-management skills
Excellent partnering skills and negotiation skills
Category life cycle management expertise (marketing desirable)
Experience in working in Asia in a regional or global senior role
Extensive experience of working in international matrix organizations across functions and cultures
Ability to navigate in a highly volatile market place and to deliver in a complex regional environment to become an established business partner for internal clients
Strong communication and people skills
Deep understanding of procurement processes/ tools and category management
Knowledge about Pharma (direct / indirect / R&D / sourcing) and linkage to global organizations
Fluent in English written & verbal (second Asian language desirable)
