DESCRIPTION OF WORK Our Staff Physicians are responsible for medical care and treatment of assigned individuals at Selinsgrove Center. You assume responsibility for other individuals assigned as part of on-call rotations and when covering for other physicians. You are required to attend Psychiatric Interdisciplinary meetings when called for and attend peer review meetings for other facilities.

Duties include providing annual physical examination of each individual assigned; and when individuals go on therapeutic leave, trial placement or are discharged. You order laboratory, x-ray, and other studies as needed, make daily rounds to observe individuals during their activities, and conduct daily dispensaries for all individuals who are sick or require your services. You are also responsible for keeping the Clinical Services Director aware of individuals conditions when hospitalization is required, emergency evaluations or any other significant change in the medical condition occurs. In addition, you provide direct contact with an individual's family or guardian when hospital admission is required and admit hospital discharge patient's and reviews and reconciles their medications.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • On call hours for weekends and evenings on a rotation

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of post-residency experience in the practice of medicine, including one year which involved a direct primary care caseload

Special Requirements:

  • All positions require possession of an active license to practice medicine in Pennsylvania issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine or Pennsylvania State Board of Osteopathic Medicine
  • All employees must obtain an active registration to prescribe medication from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration as a condition of hire

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
