STATE FAIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE IEM Instructor in SEDALIA, Missouri

Overview: Responsibilities will include teaching classes in Industrial Electrical Maintenance area with emphasis in PLC's, at the Sedalia, Missouri Campus. Courses included but not limited to; Industrial Mechanics, Fluid Power, Electrical, Control Circuit, Motor Controls, PLC's, Industrial Safety and Maintenance Management.

Essential Duties:

  • Recruit and advise students, contribute to assessment activities, revising course curriculum, mentoring adjuncts to build and maintain a successful program.
  • Participates in the design, coordination, and improvement of curriculum to ensure the best use of technology and andragogy.
  • Participates in faculty/college meetings and events. Develops written instructions and procedures for the safe use of classroom labs and training equipment.
  • Works cooperatively with the other departments and employees.
  • Orients adjunct faculty to teach industrial technology classes. Demonstrates significant knowledge of instructional best practices
  • Utilize computer technology and software applications applicable to course being taught.
  • Utilizes instructional best-practices and emerging trends to deliver course content to meet the delivery needs of the clients/students.
  • Observe and evaluate students' work to determine progress, provide feedback, and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Present lectures and conduct discussions to increase students' knowledge and competence using visual aids, such as graphs, charts, videotapes, and slides.
  • Supervise and monitor students' use of tools and equipment.
  • Administer oral, written, or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate training effectiveness.

Qualifications:

Education: Minimum education requirement is an Associate's degree in Industrial Technology related field with 3 years of experience. Certifications such as CMRT/CMRP combined with at least 5 years pertinent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement, however candidates without a degree must commit to a professional development plan to earn an appropriate degree. Preferred is Bachelor's Degree in Maintenance, Engineering, Electronics or Electro-mechanical, PLC experience with 5 years of experience.

Skills: Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office tools, demonstrate evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate student centeredness, be able to interact with a broad range of people with diverse backgrounds both on and off campus in a positive manner, demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college

Behaviors: Establishes an environment which encourages learning, safety, quality improvement and manufacturing excellence. Models effective behavior for faculty, staff, and students. Follows college, state, and federal guidelines and directives relative to the position. Researches and considers application and incorporation of new and emerging technologies in regard to curriculum. Work involves periods of sedentary to light work in an office setting to lifting up to 45 pounds, pushing, pulling, reaching, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, ascending and descending ladders, manual dexterity, standing for sustained periods of time, driving or riding in a vehicle to and from training sites.

Experience: Minimum of three years relevant experience with an appropriate degree, or 5 years pertinent work experience with certifications such as CMRT/CMRP.
