As the senior project manager for the Puget Sound Strategic Communications and Planning team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and growing our strategic planning and communications practice in the Puget Sound area. You'll deliver expert service to our clients, consulting with cities and agencies as a strategic advisor, helping them plan, design, and implement a variety of strategic planning, public involvement, and communications projects. You'll also tap into your enthusiasm for business development to help win new business and manage existing client relationships. As a senior leader, you'll also mentor our team of talented consultants to help foster a continuous learning and development culture.

Salary Range: $156,000-181,000

Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow relationships to expand our client base in the Puget Sound region through a commitment to quality and service.
  • Participate in identifying and winning new business opportunities by working with clients, teaming partners, and internal delivery teams.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams in planning, design, and implementation of public involvement for all sizes of water and transportation projects, including activities such as preparing outreach plans and messaging, providing engagement data analysis and reporting, and facilitating public events and committees.
  • Partner with public agencies to design community engagement programs that build awareness and support for public infrastructure---water, wastewater, stormwater, and transportation.
  • Mentor and guide mid- to junior-level consultants to deliver high-quality work.

Qualifications

General guidelines (though not strict requirements) for qualified candidates include:

  • 15+ years of experience managing communications efforts for cities and utilities.
  • Expertise in business development and project management with demonstrated ability to lead, train, motivate, and work within a team.
  • Excellent writing, people, and presentation skills with ability to develop productive, long-term relationships and communicate with clients, peers, multi-discipline teams, and management.
  • Experience in water and transportation infrastructure or other related technical background.
  • Experience approaching work through a lens of equity and inclusion.
  • Four-year degree in communications, environmental planning, marketing, political science, or other subjects related to public outreach or infrastructure.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Skilled written and verbal communicator.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience planning, developing and managing multi-channel communications programs.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid or office setting with periodic out-of-office travel for client meetings and public events.
