Blue Origin LLC Sr. Manager, Cost Engineering in Seattle, Washington

This role will lead Blue Origin's Product Cost Engineering group, a high performing team of diverse and experienced costing professionals. You will partner with cross functional teams in developing comprehensive lifecycle cost models, cost analysis toolsets, cost databases and cost reduction roadmaps to guide the future of Blue Origin's cost competitive products. To be successful in this position, candidates must have direct experience estimating costs of production and operation of reusable aerospace products and services. Candidates must have experience managing analytical teams and possess a strategic vision for the deployment of processes and tools. Responsibilities: Lead the team of cost engineers and apply industry best practices for estimating lifecycle cost of reusable space products, including costs of production and operation. Build a high performing team through top talent recruiting, performance management, task/project management, training, and supporting career development. Champion process definition and documentation, tool deployment, and data storage for all areas of cost engineering. Provide detailed consulting on component/ assembly/ system levels of product lifecycle cost drivers, working with estimators, supply chain, manufacturing, finance. Support program IPTs in all types of cost variance analysis (vs. targets, actuals, should costs), early design trade studies, and make/buy trades. Promptly respond to the individual program requests in developing cost estimates and supporting cost management by identifying, quantifying, executing cost reductions. Qualifications: 10 or more years of experience with cost estimating in highly technical industry, with demonstrated track-record of team leadership. Experience leveraging complex estimating/pricing models and cost management tools. Strong communication and data analytics skills with experience presenting to company executives. Experience with aerospace engineering design and manufacturing. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired: Direct experience with space propulsion, launch vehicle design/ manufacturing/ operation. Experience developing complex estimating/pricing models and cost management tools. B.S. degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Materials, Industrial, or Aerospace engineering. Masters degree in Business Administration, Cost Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or other related business field.
