About the Team

The Database and Migrations Engineering Team at Workday, designs, builds, develops, maintains, migrates and supervises database persistence and ensuring that the entire Workday's Data related needs are met with dedication and scale, while providing high availability that our customers expect from Workday. We are a fast paced and diverse team of infrastructure specialists and software engineers responsible for designing, automating, managing, migrating customers between Cloud Platforms.

 

About the Role

 

We are seeking a highly qualified leader to oversee the Public Cloud Migration Engineering activities, a software product that enable seamless cloud migration that is dependable, scalable, and performant. We think that by using Infrastructure as a Code and a very abstract and adaptable architecture that supports several clouds, we can accomplish our objectives. This position will oversee the migration engineering side of development and automation in order to strengthen and improve the fundamental operations of the current platform system while planning and creating the platform of the future.

 

You will lead a team of software engineers and will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, product managers, engineering leads, and customer support. Setting technical vision and direction as well as assisting your teams in producing their best work through efficient coaching and mentoring are all responsibilities of the position. You'll provide technical know-how while inspiring and empowering your staff as we expand into the public cloud platform with new and migrated deployments.

 

About You

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, architecture, automation, lifecycle management on Cloud.
  • 3+ years of leading a team
  • Hands-on experience in Cloud/Enterprise Software Development
  • Experience in distributed computing and multi-cloud concepts and architecture
  • 3 + years of working experience in programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, etc

Other Qualifications:

In-depth knowledge and experience in modern DevOps technologies and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), service deployment, monitoring and scaling.

Skilled in Transcending organizational and functional barriers while influencing, communicating, and inspiring change

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders at all management levels.

Excellent people-management abilities and an advocate of the company culture.

Ability to prosper in ambiguous, fast paced, dynamic environments.
