Amazon Software Development Manager, Amazon Global Store in Seattle, Washington

Amazon Exports and Expansion is building new services responsible for enhancing the international shopping experience. Global Store (GS) and Core Exports (CE), together, enable cross-border (XB) shopping for Amazon customers worldwide. CE serves cross-border customers in 200+ destinations and shopping on 11 Exports-enabled stores by providing access to 177M+ products at competitive prices, with a localized shopping experience, and a reliable and accurate delivery experience. GS complements the local flywheel in 14 countries across 59 source-destination pairs (arcs), creating an integrated experience, enabling customers to shop Amazon’s international selection on their local Amazon or 3P website. GS abstracts XB fulfillment processes to make it seamless for customers to shop for Amazon’s international selection while rendering a fully localized experience with access to competitive pricing in local currency, cross border DEX, C-returns, exclusive deals and promotions, local payment methods and local customer service.

DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a highly talented software development manager to lead our XB Selection Tech software team in Seattle, WA. In this role, you will partner with business and technical teams to design and document requirements, and develop technical strategies and software roadmaps for delivery of features. You will be leading a passionate group of engineers in architecting and developing large scale distributed technology solutions and also innovating new ideas and providing technology directions to our business in the Cross Border Selection space. We have many key initiatives lined-up to support our rapid evolution and growth of international selection expansion by solving some of the most challenging problems in this domain.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of engineering experience

  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 5+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience in leading the definition and development of multi tier web services

  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams

  • Lead your team to evolve our service architecture with quality, robustness and Amazon sized scale as top priorities. You will regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting exercises and drive technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
