AWS Applications and Higher Level Abstractions (Apps) provides horizontal and industry vertical applications for business users with the same on-demand scalability, reliability, pay-as-you-go pricing, and machine learning expertise that drive AWS services. The AWS Applications group includes services such as Amazon Connect (a cost-effective cloud contact center), our End User Computing (including Amazon Workspaces, AppStream, etc.), Marketing Tech (Amazon Pinpoint), and Autonomous Checkout and Biometric Identity Services (Just Walk Out, Amazon One) for retail, sports, travel, and other verticals.

AWS Supply Chain (ASC) is building a cloud-based application that helps customers mitigate business risks and lower costs with unified data and ML-powered planning and insights. This role will be building the ASC Supply Planning module, which helps customers automatically replenish inventory short-term, and plan their resources over the long-term.

The ASC Supply Planning team is responsible for building this set of features for our customers. We are looking for a Software Dev Engineer II who will focus on building or enhancing features for users to effectively perform supply planning. Key job responsibilities

· Develop and maintain key features of our systems and services, including backend services, as well as occasional full stack development

· Work with other team members on design, and prototyping technology

· Work on product improvements, with focus on customer experience and usability

· Dive deep into complex technical problems

· Raise the bar for operational excellence and development practices

A day in the life

In a typical day you will be developing new features and improvements for the Supply Planning component within AWS Supply Chain. You will coordinate with product owners, other engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to satisfy customer needs in an easy-to-use fashion. You spend time refining and implementing software requirements to make sure systems and APIs support a robust user experience. You will make targeted improvements for operational excellence and ease of maintenance. You also make some changes to the webapp UI to bring everything together.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
