UW Continuum College has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technical Project Manager! About the position The Senior Technical Project Manager is responsible for delivering strategic business projects at UW Continuum College. This hands-on role involves guiding IT project activities, managing scope, cost, schedule, quality, risks, and change control. They work with IT and other departments to staff projects and delegate tasks. They also collaborate with Continuum’s business groups, UW schools, colleges, and administrative units to support online student services, internet applications, and financial reporting systems.

You model strong technical and project management skills with experience in budgeting, analysis, change management, risk assessment, and quality assurance. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Senior Project Management • Understand stakeholders' needs, create solutions, and develop proposals. • Create project plans, estimate costs and schedules, and document assumptions. • Get plan approval from the team, management, and stakeholders. • Develop work breakdown structures and responsibility matrices. • Implement project governance (advisory groups, steering committees, etc.). • Collect project status, measure performance, analyze variances, and adjust as needed. • Provide regular status reports. • Define and manage quality assurance programs. • Ensure proper project closure, including warranty fulfillment and retrospectives.

Business and Systems Analysis • Understand business direction and needs. • Recommend and assess initiatives, including risk analysis and business cases. • Manage the requirements process: elicitation, analysis, prioritization, documentation, and communication. • Facilitate or conduct use case and user analysis meetings. • Define and improve business processes and workflows. • Bridge gaps between business users and developers.

Project Leadership • Manage resource assignments within project scope. • Lead the project team, including IT, business, and vendor representatives. • Use appropriate tools for each task. • Foster a collaborative team environment. • Manage time effectively, facilitate decisions, and conduct effective meetings.

We will consider a variety of personal and professional experiences; however, a successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in most areas of responsibility outlined above.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in business, IT or related field and 3 or more years of experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

Additionally Requirements:

• Senior project management experience with web projects as well as complex, interactive web applications and their system integration. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects to successful completion with a combined team size of 8 or more people. • Recognized expertise managing projects with both traditional waterfall and Agile project management approaches as appropriate to the situation • Successful end-to-end implementation of projects utilizing commercially available software products. • Experience delivering to an IT strategic roadmap with constrained resources. • Experience planning and facilitating adoption of process changes through engagement with stakeholders and end-users. • Familiar with documentation and project management tools such as: MS Teams, MS Project, Visio, SharePoint, JIRA, and Confluence.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
