Oracle Senior Principal Engineer in Seattle, Washington

Job Description

Our team is responsible for delivering high-speed packet processing infrastructure that is highly available and scalable. We develop network functions with DPDK that run on generic compute hardware and/or smartNICs. We develop innovative, cost-effective solutions to deliver high throughput and low latency for critical applications like databases, object storage, video streaming, etc.

We are looking for an experienced engineer who will own the data plane of one or more Tier-0 networking services, such as Network Load Balancer, Private Endpoint, Network Gateway, etc. It is an interesting time to join our team as we are taking a fresh look at re-building several parts of our architecture to deliver a robust foundation to scale to the customer needs for the next decade. Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in software development related to networking

  • 5+ years of experience in developing large-scale distributed services/applications

  • 5+ years of experience in operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting large-scale applications/services

  • Proficiency with C/C++ and network packet processing (DPDK / VPP / P4)

  • Excellent understanding of Layer-2/3/4 networking protocols

  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Proven success through strong collaboration with partner teams

  • Proven success in mentoring and growing junior engineers

Career Level - IC5

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  1. Leading a small team of engineers to design, develop, and operate network services at scale with high availability.

  2. Collaborating with partner teams to deliver critical features on time with quality.

  3. Delivering automation of all aspects of operations – validations, monitoring, alarming, and quick mitigations.

  4. Improve and/or establish processes for high operational hygiene.

  5. Mentoring junior engineers in the team.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
