Description Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes on inpatient and outpatient cases using ICD-9-CM and CPT coding systems, assigns DRGs using the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and All Patient groupers and abstracts data for statistical, reimbursement and regulatory requirements. Required qualifications: Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association Or Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association Or Upon hire: National Certified Inpatient Coder Or Upon hire: National Certified Professional Coder Or Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association Or Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - Physician - American Health Information Management Association 3 years of ICD-9-CM and CPT coding experience performing hospital based inpatient and outpatient coding. 3 months of Demonstrated proficiency in a concurrent medical record review program that emphasizes partnering between clinical documentation specialists and coding. Preferred qualifications Associate's Degree in Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school Or Completion of a certified coding program and three years related experience.
