Amazon Advertising is one of Amazon's fastest growing and most profitable businesses. Ad Catalyst Team enables Advertisers to get most growth by providing them with science-backed ML generated guidance at-scale by connecting retail, advertising and marketing signals.

Key job responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to join our dynamic, cross-functional team. In this role, you will partner closely with product managers, engineers, and scientists to understand business requirements, user needs, and data insights that can drive product innovation and improvements. You will be responsible for driving our organization-level data analytics solution, serving as the single-threaded-owner (STO) of the organization's BI program, driving stakeholder communication, designing and developing robust, highly performant BI solutions using the latest AWS technologies, and creating dashboards and strategic studies to inform our team and senior leadership of business-critical revenue and advertiser impact opportunities across three of the largest customer-facing platforms at Amazon. The candidate will perform as the BI technical lead, guiding the implementation of best practices, optimizing performance, and ensuring data quality and governance. Lastly, mentor and coach junior BI team members, sharing your expertise and helping them grow their skills.

About the team

The Ad Catalyst Team enables advertisers to increase their advertising impact through relevant science-backed recommendations that maximize business outcomes. Our charter covers two programs: 1) We ensure advertisers receive only the most relevant and impactful recommendations and point in the advertisers' growth journey. We maximize advertiser Downstream Impact through our science and services which enable customized and contextually optimized ranking of advertising recommendations via coherent downstream metrics. 2) We develop science-driven recommendations for business challenges that run horizontal across ad-programs. We scale our impact through APIs, big data infrastructure and science to power recommendations experiences across advertiser-facing channels.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional or military experience

  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving BI initiatives from ideation to implementatio

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS technologies

  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

  • Knowledge of data warehousing and data modeling

  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

  • Familiarity with data engineering concepts, such as data pipelines, data quality, and performance optimization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
