Amazon Principal Technical Infrastructure Program Manager - AWS Infra Supply Chain, Capacity Delivery Reliability in Seattle, Washington

Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion

The AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) team is looking for a Principal Technical Infrastructure Program Manager (TIPM) to join the Capacity Delivery Reliability Team. The AIS Capacity Delivery Reliability Team is responsible for ensuring the timely and reliable delivery of server and network equipment within a 13-week horizon. This team plays a crucial role in reducing end-to-end cycle times while continuously improving delivery reliability. The Principal TIPM will lead a team of customer-obsessed supply chain professionals dedicated to this mission.

As the primary liaison between AWS Infrastructure and AWS service businesses (including Networking, EC2, S3, and EBS), this leader will manage and mitigate changes in demand and supply availability within the 13-week delivery window. They will collaborate closely with infrastructure procurement, manufacturing, transportation, datacenter operations, and planning teams to coordinate, advocate for, and execute programs and business processes that enhance delivery speed and reliability.

The role involves partnering with supply chain systems and automation teams to improve existing systems and develop new ones, driving faster and more reliable delivery. The Principal TIPM will own and operationalize multiple infrastructure leadership-level goals, regularly reporting progress to senior leadership. They will be responsible for delivery metrics and provide performance visibility to various internal teams.

This position requires a supply chain, operations, or planning subject matter expert with exceptional judgment and a proven track record of successfully operationalizing complex processes to improve performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanistically and systematically scaling operations and/or planning, with a results-oriented approach, strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and the ability to lead teams through multiple complex projects.

This role is inherently cross-functional and requires the ability to think big and collaborate with others as you work closely with teams across AWS Infrastructure and AWS Service teams (EC2, S3, EBS). The shifting power and permitting constraints and critical nature of the role requires someone who maintains momentum, clarity of vision and adaptability while communicating effectively across a diverse set of customers, partners and leadership. The Principal TIPM must effectively distinguish between one/two way door decisions. Decisions driven by the Principal TPM create significant impact to AWS Infra organization and all of our customers so excellent judgement (based on domain and technical expertise) is required in managing complex problems, trade-offs, proposals and escalations.

Communication with executive audiences is a regular occurrence. High judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence without authority, analytical talent, technical aptitude, and leadership to collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders across multiple time zones, manage capital budgets, eliminate non-value-add activity, design solutions, remove roadblocks, and find creative ways to accelerate project delivery are therefore essential for success in this role.
