The HQ Category Development Manager – role contributes to NCP’s success by driving sales and coffee category growth. This role will drive and influence category strategy utilizing coffee industry knowledge, shopper insights and business analytics. Additionally, the position identifies growth opportunities via best-in-class analytics including optimal assortment. Working cross functionally within the organization to drive results is a key success factor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

LEADERSHIP - Setting goals for direct report, developing capabilities, and modeling how we work together:

  • Foster a consultative approach that helps set category direction for the organization

  • Develop trust within the organization via an objective category focus and by consistently being a valued advisor that identifies growth opportunities

  • Leads direct report performance management and development by facilitating training, mentoring, ongoing performance conversations

  • Contributes to building a cohesive culture and team connections across Headquarters and Field Category Development teams.

  • Partner with field teams on strategic projects and customer presentations, enabling NCP to build credibility and influence as the coffee/category authority

STRATEGY - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:

  • Develops a strategic category vision for the organization informed by societal macro trends, category growth drivers, channel dynamics and thought leadership.

  • Interprets shopper and consumer research to drive category focused shopper solutions

  • Leads the assortment precision process to define optimal best-in-class shelf assortment utilizing analytics tools and make aisle flow recommendations for customer teams

  • Provide tactical direction for field teams on how to orchestrate the shelf, rooting guidance in shopper insights, business impact & the future of coffee growth

  • Identifies coffee/NCP growth opportunities grounded in market trends, connecting with retailer teams, shopper insights and business analytics

PLANNING AND EXECUTION

  • Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, leading execution, and measuring results

  • Works closely with manager to craft annual strategic priorities and goals for the organization

  • Works closely with commercial development and brand marketing partners to identify strategic opportunities and sell in across retailers

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • University Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience and minimum of 7 years related work experience.

  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Analytical experience with Circana and/or other omni syndicated data preferred

  • 3+ years work experience in Category Development / Category Management roles in the CPG industry

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in category, sales, marketing, etc.

  • 2+ years of experience leading others preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline

The approximate target compensation range for this role is $130,000 to $150,000 . Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
