GlaxoSmithKline Lead AI/ML Engineering - Infectious Disease in Seattle, Washington

Site Name: Seattle Sixth Ave Posted Date: May 14 2024 At GSK we see a world in which advanced applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) will allow us to develop new medicines and vaccines with greater speed and efficacy. GSK is a unique company with world leading pharmaceutical and vaccines research and development organizations and a global health focus. Infectious disease remains a constant unmet medical need, and due to the nature of pathogen resistance the need for resistance surveillance and rapid drug development remains constant. The lead for AIML Infectious disease will be responsible for the development of models for emerging strain prediction and vaccine design, machine learning models for translational research and target discovery and clinical response. The lead will work directly with existing groups within the GSK AIML organization, particularly the sequence learning, cellular imaging and biomedical AI groups. The lead will work on data generation and active learning for strain pathogenicity using a coupled lab in the loop, advise on data collection for surveillance on a global scale, and design standards. The group will produce models for next strain prediction and maintain the models derived from such data. Working closely with the infectious disease research unit and other AIML functions the lead will provide support for AIML approaches for target discovery and integration of clinical data leading to models for pathogen sensitivity and response. The lead will also advise on the development of AIML aspects of diagnostic or decision support. Competitive candidates will have a track record in developing state-of-the-art (SOTA) deep learning models for solving challenging real world scientific problems. You should be an outstanding scientist with in-depth knowledge in modern machine learning. You can convert biological/drug discovery challenges into well-defined machine learning problems. You can independently execute and deliver full AI/ML driven solutions from sourcing training data, design and implementing SOTA machine learning models, testing, benchmarking and product driven research for model performance improvement, to shipping stable, tested, performant code and services in an agile environment. The AI/ML team is built on the principles of ownership, accountability, continuous development, and collaboration. We hire for the long term, and we're motivated to make this a great place to work. Our leaders will be committed to your career and development from day one. Why you?
