UW Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Financial Analyst to join their team.

UW Medicine owns or operates Harborview Medical Center, Valley Medical Center, UW Medical Center, UW Medicine Primary Care, UW Physicians, UW School of Medicine (SoM), Airlift Northwest, and other owned, operated or affiliated entities as appropriate. In addition, UW Medicine shares in the ownership and governance of Children's University Medical Group and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (a partnership among UW Medicine and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research).

The Financial Analyst (payroll title: Program Operations Analyst) will play an integral role in managing operational details of the clinical departmental funding process. Under the general direction of the Director of Planning and Analysis, Office of Faculty Business Planning, this position will be responsible for detailed reporting and providing analyses related to the UW Medicine Clinical Departmental Funding Process.

The Financial Analyst will be required to work independently in seeking information from a variety of internal UW medicine resources, and external entities for on-going assignments and special projects.

This position involves multiple and rapidly changing daily work priorities/deadlines in a dynamic environment. The Financial Analyst will work closely with the SoM clinical departments, medical center staff, and other UW Medicine staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Departmental Funding Process Operational Reporting – 60% • Manage operational aspects of clinical departmental funding database. • Manage day-to-day programmatic details of the clinical departmental funding process including tracking and trending reports and analysis. • Collaborate with clinical departments, UWP, SoM IT team, and medical center finance staff during annual budgeting process. • Review departmental clinical departmental funding requests for accuracy and perform appropriate analyses of requests, as appropriate. • Create ad hoc operational reports for the unit based on cyclical reporting needs. • Provide quality assurance for reports/information submitted by Departments regarding CFTE reporting. • Prepare Clinical Full-Time Equivalence (CFTE) reporting to internal stakeholders and CPSC (Clinical Practice Solutions Center). • Provide data/reports related to clinical departmental funding to UW Medicine Faculty Business Planning Office, SoM, medical centers, and department contacts.

SOM Programs Financial Planning and Analysis – 30% • Design, develop, and manage financial tracking, and reporting. • Provide comprehensive, as well as targeted and specific, financial analyses and reporting for decision-making. • Create reporting processes to support continuous processes improvements as requested. • Create and maintain clinical activity dashboards in Tableau. • Provide quality assurance reviews of programmatic reviews and reporting. • Respond to ad hoc data requests. • Perform other financial analysis and reporting as assigned

Project Management – 10% • Provides project management for development/implementation of key initiatives and group projects. • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor's degree in business or related field and at least three years' experience in financial analysis and project management.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration. DESIRED REQUIREMENTS • Previous work in an academic medical center. Previous experience with clinical funds. • Understanding of compliance issues in healthcare environment. • Experience working on multiple, complex projects and/or programs demonstrating organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work efforts and work under pressure, while maintaining effectiveness • Comfortable with ambiguity, highly-matrixed environments, and shifting priorities and deadlines. • Experience with healthcare operations and patient access. • Demonstrated experience using MS Project, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Outlook. • Able to communicate effectively across various perspectives, experiences and knowledge bases, takes initiative, and is proactive in their approach. • Working knowledge of enterprise-wide relational databases, multi-dimensional cubes, scripting languages, SQL server (including SQL Server Analysis Services), and Business Intelligence reporting tools. • Working knowledge of Tableau. • Familiarity with a variety of UW and UWP systems and policies (BOE, Workday, MyFD, UWHires, EDW & Financial Cubes).
