Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Client Services & Solutions at Global Business Payments in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

What You’ll Do:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • The Software Application Developer will perform duties and tasks to support full systems development life cycle management (e.g., analysis, business requirements gathering, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation, etc.).

  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and performance.

  • Meeting software delivery commitments.

  • Coordinate with Scotiabank stakeholders and partners to ensure an effective solution and a robust customer experience is delivered.

  • Conduct testing of new software releases to ensure successful implementation such that there is no negative impact to existing code base.

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the application systems and payment processing flow.

  • Provide production and UAT application support and participate in recovery efforts.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You'll Bring:

  • A degree in computer science or related discipline with at least 2 years of work experience.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to understand complex business rules and translate them into working solutions.

  • Possess working knowledge of Windows OS, Linux .Net environment, XML, SQL, MS Office, and shell scripting

  • 3-5 years of experience with C#, VBA, VB.Net and working knowledge of API services

  • 3-5 years of experience with cloud platform

  • Must have excellent analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills in order to develop and support systems to meet customer requirements.

  • Must be reliable, results-oriented, customer-focused and attentive to details.

  • High degree of organizational, prioritization skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Passionate about adopting new technologies to accelerate the delivery of solutions to business opportunities.

Work Arrangement:

  • The incumbent will frequently interact with customers, GTB staff and partners. They require solutions to address gaps both from a business and technical perspective with GBP’s standard product offerings. These requests, coupled with unpredictable and fluctuating deadlines and changing priorities, will subject the incumbent to potentially demanding situations on a regular basis.

  • Demanding deadlines due to business needs may require the incumbent to work outside of regular business hours occasionally.
