Amergis School Licensed Vocational Nurse Position in Santa Clarita, California

A Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse (LVN or LPN) in a school setting provides specialized health services to students with specific physical health care needs. Here are some key responsibilities of an LVN/LPN in a school environment:

  • Health Services: The LVN/LPN follows guidelines provided by the student’s doctor and/or the school nurse to deliver specialized health care services. These services may include catheterization, NG tube feeding, tracheostomy tube changes, and other medical procedures.

  • Student Support: LVNs/LPNs work in various educational settings, including Pre-K to age 22 classrooms, emotionally disturbed, autistic, behavioral, full inclusion, assistive technology, and special education settings. They collaborate with principals, teachers, and nurses to ensure student safety and well-being.

  • Emergency Care: LVNs/LPNs administer first aid, monitor EPI pen (bee sting) actions, assist during seizures, and handle necessary procedures for diabetic students.

  • Medication Administration: Under supervision, LVNs/LPNs dispense medication as prescribed by physicians and maintain accurate records.

  • Student Assistance: LVNs/LPNs assist with toileting, feeding, and the care of devices such as feeding tubes, catheters, and colostomy bags. They also supervise students during snack, lunch, and outdoor activities.

    Schedule: Monday-Friday, hours TBD

    Pay rate: $33-$38 per hour (DOE)

    Please note the additional requirements for the position below:

  • Must hold a valid LVN/LPN license.

  • Must hold a valid CPR certificate.

  • At least 1 year of experience - preferred, but not required.

  • Must be bilingual - Spanish speaking.
