We are searching for the best talent for Supplier Quality Engineering Intern to be in Santa Clara, CA.

Purpose: The Quality Engineering Intern will participate and learn about the basics of Supplier Quality processes. Under the guidance of the Hiring Manager and Mentoring Engineer(s), the Intern will assist with the collection and analysis of engineering data, the receipt and inspection of raw materials, the documentation of inspection methods at Shockwave and at Shockwave’s suppliers, and the investigation of raw material non-conformances.

  • Internship typical term is 10-12 weeks May to August, 2025

  • Full time requirement (40 hours per week)

You will be responsible for:

  • Review component specifications (e.g.: drawings, inspection plans) for completeness.

  • Update component drawings using SOLIDWORKS under guidance from Engineering.

  • Compile engineering data from various sources (databases, Excel files, PDF files).

  • Analyze engineering data to help Management in decision-making.

  • Learn to operate inspection equipment (e.g. vision measurement, burst tester, tensile tester).

  • Draft Test Method Validation (TMV) Protocols.

  • Execute the TMV protocols and draft TMV Reports.

  • Learn basics of Document Control/Change Management.

  • Assist with the revision of part inspection procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at accredited University is required.

  • Minimum GPA of 2.8 is required.

  • Undergraduate full-time student attending an accredited university with major emphasis in Supply Chain Management and Quality Control, Mechanical, Industrial, Biomedical or related Engineering.

  • Basic knowledge of project management principles.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Can work as part of a team or independently with guidance from Management.

  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Data Analysis: Excel proficiency (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, charts, conditional formatting).

  • Statistical Tools (descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, regression analysis).

  • Minitab proficiency (desired).

  • SPC (Statistical Process Control).

  • Gd&t.

  • Root Cause Analysis.

  • Six Sigma/Lean Methodologies.

The anticipated base pay for this position is between $22.00 /hr and $51.50 /hr , but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. This position is overtime eligible. Intern/Co-ops may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs such as medical insurance, sick time, holiday pay, and the Company’s consolidated retirement plan in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
