Oracle Consulting Technical Manager in Santa Clara, California
Job Description
As a recognized authority and leading contributor within their practice, this senior level consulting position provides consistent high quality and innovative solution leadership to a project team. Analyzes business needs to help ensure Oracle solution meets the customer’s objectives by combining industry best practices, product knowledge, and business acumen. Leads the solution design and implementation aspects of engagement(s) ensuring high quality, integrated software solutions within constraints of time and budget.
Exercises judgment and business acumen in selecting methods and techniques to deliver functional and technical solutions on non-routine and very complex aspects of applications and technology installations. Provides direction and mentoring to project teams, and effectively influences decisions at the management level of customer organizations. Supports the business development efforts by pursuing new opportunities and extensions. Collaborates with the consulting sales team by providing domain credibility. Ability to travel as required.
Key Accountabilities
Work Management
Lead the development and configuration of detailed solutions for complex projects
Ensure enterprise solution spans across the customer’s business processes
Advise and influence customer leadership on process direction/decisions by providing industry, business process, and product expertise
Develop and manage detailed work plans which support the overall project plan
Monitor and report work plan progress in accordance with quality and time allocation
Validate deliverables so that solutions meet the customer’s business objectives Anticipate project risks and make corrective recommendations to project manager
Resolve complex customer issues by recommending and implementing solutions
Ensure compliance with appropriate methodologies, making adjustments if necessary, to accomplish assigned work product; consistently utilize procedures
Effectively collaborate across all delivery channels including Global Delivery resources, system integrators, and third parties.
Monitor and report progress on assigned tasks in accordance with quality and time allocation; anticipate contingencies and make appropriate adjustments
Demonstrate expertise in multiple business processes across two or more product families; or architecting and designing technology solutions encompassing multiple products and make decisions based on impact across the stack
Demonstrate ability to recommend a solution that may include third party integration and/or extensions to Oracle products
Financial Management and Administration
Achieve quarterly individual utilization goal
Ensure expenses incurred are compliant with Oracle and/or customer expense policies
Enter timecards, expenses, status reports and/or bench activity plan in a timely manner consistent with Oracle and/or customer policies
Ensure timely updates to resume, skills, schedule, and other mandated activities per Oracle policy
Effectively manage schedule and communicate changes as necessary to impacted parties
Knowledge Management and Sharing
Promote adoption of Oracle methodologies and leading practices with team members
Leverage and recommend enhancements to various Oracle tools (e.g., Oracle systems, knowledge base, professional communities and training courses)
Actively contribute project work products to knowledge repository; leverage reusable assets and intellectual capital
Promote knowledge development by sharing lessons learned or new skills across the practice
Participate in internal Oracle calls, webcasts, and events
Lead and actively contribute to a Oracle professional community
Compile and share business process, industry or technology knowledge and serve as point person for others on key industry issues
Professional Development
In collaboration with your manager, identify necessary knowledge and skills for personal career development and future positions
Create individual development plan (IDP) including necessary education and on-the-job experience
Participate in required training; establish network from these events
Achieve individual training plan milestones set forth for technical and career development
Effectively develop and expand required consulting soft skills (as detailed in competency profile below)
In collaboration with your manager, define and execute your personal “Path to Certification” and maintain existing certifications
Expand knowledge/expertise across other applications and/or technologies including third-party products
Understand Oracle’s corporate vision and strategy
Identify and recommend new professional development methods and resources that benefit Oracle consulting
Leadership
Direct and lead a team of consultants on a project
Provide coaching, guidance and feedback to develop skills of team members
Identify on-the-job training opportunities for consultants to improve skills
Coach recent hires and other consultants to facilitate their transition into the organization
Provide project performance feedback, as necessary
Promote team communication and cohesiveness, fostering a positive work environment
Help support communication and adoption of new and existing policy/procedures in the consulting organization
Business Development
Collaborate with Sales leadership in business development efforts on existing or new projects by providing client scoping, work estimates, demonstrations, and requirements gathering
Contribute to RFPs and bid package as requested
Proactively identify opportunities and leads and engage sales team to lead business pursuit

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only
US: Hiring Range in USD from: $97,500 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
