POSITION SUMMARY:

The Jr. Electrical Manufacturing/Test Engineer at Sonatech will learn the engineering profession and the practical application of Electrical engineering disciplines under the supervision of Senior Engineering staff. The person hired for this position will work with a team of Electrical, Acoustic, Software and Mechanical Engineers to solve undersea acoustic problems, learn and apply methods of manufacturing to improve existing designs and to create new designs, and work with Manufacturing Technicians and Production Control to provide engineering support to production activities. This position will also be responsible for performing analysis, computations and generating reports as directed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement test procedures and test fixtures for existing electrical/electronic and acoustic transducer designs.
  • Test and troubleshoot printed circuit boards and higher-level assemblies.
  • In-water test of acoustic transducers in test tanks and open ocean environments.
  • Assist with review of requirements for printed circuits, participate in part selection, develop or specify test methods and associated test equipment.
  • Identify tasks associated with existing projects and estimate manpower and other resources required to execute objectives.
  • Prepare and present internal design review material to demonstrate design meets all specifications and customer requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred candidates should have a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from a college or university with an ABET certified curriculum.
  • A desire to learn the practical application of the elements of electrical engineering for undersea acoustic design.
  • Ability to work with all levels of engineers, manufacturing and production personnel, sales, administration and management.
  • Solid organizational and planning skills. Must be able to pay attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, articulate, team player, and dependable.
  • Self-starter, able to work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy/efficiency.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance.

Pay range: $65,000-$75,000 a year
