  • Instructional Coach Screening Interviews are conducted through an online interview process, VidCruiter.

  • The online application and video interview will take approximately 30 minutes and includes a recorded video resume, recorded responses to 7 questions, and a short written response.

  • ALL applicants will be included in the Instructional Coach Pool for three years.

  • As the possibilities of openings arise, candidates identified through the screening process will be invited to interview with Instructional Supports Department administrators and select school administrators.

  • Most interviews are conducted in late February or early March for fall hires.

  • Individuals may participate in the Instructional Coach Screening Interview once every three years. After three years candidates must re-interview in order to be considered for an Instructional Coach position.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Instructional Coach will be responsible for supporting Canyons School District schools’ implementation of CSD’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Framework. Coaches work collaboratively to develop teachers’ evidence-based practices and digital teaching and learning skills, implementation of Instructional Professional Learning Communities (IPLCs), increase the commitment of a culture of public practice, and analyze and interpret school and district data to inform data-based decision making. Placement in schools will be determined by the Instructional Supports Department based on school needs and goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Demonstrates high standard of professional, legal and ethical conduct (CTESS standard)

  • Provide expertise, training, modeling, co-teaching, and support to teachers in implementing standards based instruction, adopted curriculum, and assessment

  • Cultivate a supportive coaching culture that encourages educators and leaders to achieve a shared vision and individual goals

  • Pursue professional learning that deepens expertise in in order to serve as a model for educators and leaders

  • Establish trusting and respectful coaching relationships that encourage educators to explore new instructional strategies

  • Partner with educators to identify digital learning content that is culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and aligned to content standards

  • Partner with educators to evaluate the efficacy of digital learning content and tools to inform procurement decisions and adoption

  • Personalize support for educators by planning and modeling the effective use of instructional strategies and the effective use of technology to improve student learning

  • Collaborate with educators to develop authentic, active learning experiences that foster student agency, deepen content mastery and allow students to demonstrate their competency

  • Coordinate and train paraprofessionals who are supporting instruction and intervention

  • Help educators to create effective assessments that provide timely feedback and support personalized learning

  • Model the use of instructional design principles with educators to create effective blended learning environments

  • Design professional learning based on needs assessments and frameworks for working with adults to support their cultural social-emotional and learning needs

  • Build the capacity of educators, leaders and instructional teams to put the system supports into practice by facilitating active learning and providing meaningful feedback

  • Evaluate impact of professional learning and continually make improvements in order to meet schoolwide vision for high-impact teaching and learning

  • Assist educators and leaders in securely collecting and analyzing student data

  • Support educators to interpret qualitative and quantitative data to inform their decisions and support individual student learning

  • Partner with educators to empower students to use learning data to set their own goals and measure their progress

  • Predictable and reliable attendance.

    During times of state or district emergency, all employees may be required to perform additional duties that are not required on a normal basis in support of educational and operational priorities. e.g. Performs general cleaning and sanitizing of work areas, provides remote assistance to students and staff, and any other reasonable duty as needed.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Incumbent must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal backgrounds check

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred

  • Valid Utah teaching license, Professional

  • Completion of competency-based endorsements in coaching and education technology required within first three years of employment

  • Demonstrated expertise in utilization of effective teaching strategies required

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology and instructional media tools

  • Demonstrated expertise in data based decision making at multiple levels including individual, small group, class, grade and school

  • Successful experience coaching other professionals preferred

  • Flexible and willing to adapt to changes

  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written

  • Demonstrated skill in teaching and facilitating adult learners

  • Successful experience coaching/mentoring and/or leading other professionals preferred (e.g. BLT member, New Teacher Coach experience)

  • Willingness to continually learn new information and skill related to student learning and achievement including content areas that may be outside of current skill set

  • Ability to work collaboratively and individually on assigned tasks

  • Willingness to improve facilitation and leadership skills, and take feedback from teammates, supervisor, school administrators, and mentor

NOTE: The Administration reserves the right to require specific training for this position. However, depending upon the type and quality of prior work experience and availability of formal training programs, some exchanges can be made between training and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ---Not limited to the following:

  • Requires the ability to lift a minimum of ten (10) pounds

  • Possess the physical, mental, and emotional stability to work under stressful conditions, including but not limited to: deadlines, contract requirements, inspection requirements, interaction with critical personnel, interaction with parents and community members, and consistent changes in the educational profession
