What you will do:

  • Reviews and processes faxed orders received via PIF (Process Incoming Orders) and electronic orders received in the OV (other vendor) hold queue. Order processing includes, but is not limited to:

  • All orders will be validated for the 5 required elements.

  • Medical Necessity will be checked on required orders, knowledge of current program being used to check Medical Necessity.

  • Faxed orders will be electronically indexed in the PIF desktop.

  • Orders for scheduled tests will be pended to the appropriate worklist for processing and attached to pre-registered accounts.

  • Orders for scheduled tests will be compared to the test scheduled for accuracy.

  • Call the ordering physician office for orders that do not have elements required for validation or do not meet medical necessity requesting the missing information or updated order with additional follow up as necessary.

  • Maintains a good rapport with physicians, ancillary departments and patients.

  • Consistently demonstrates ability to use the hospital related computer programs, copier, fax, and printer accurately.

  • Courteously answers telephone using established greetings, and assists callers in a friendly, helpful manner.

    What you will need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required and completion of medical terminology class required. Above average computer and telephone skills are required.

  • Ability to multitask and work in a busy and stressful environment.

  • Ability to skillfully operate a personal computer and maintain a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Experience with Medical Necessity and ICD-10 coding preferred.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to understand instruction and effectively communicate in both written and oral form.Ability and willingness to work varied working hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to maintain a positive impression of the Medical Center at all times, and handle sensitive telephone and face-to-face inquiries.

  • Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.

  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including the ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Hospital emergency codes.

  • Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment. Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.

  • Successfully complete a ninety (90) day probationary period.
