BeiGene IP Paralegal in San Mateo, California

General Description:

We are seeking an IP Paralegal to join our growing in-house Intellectual Property team to support patent prosecution in the US and in foreign jurisdictions, including IDS management, formalities, and coordination with outside counsel. Intellectual property and process management related experience in a law firm and/or in-house with a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company is preferred. This is a remote position.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage execution of formality documents, such as assignments and powers of attorney, including obtaining required signatures, notarization, apostille, and/or legalization as needed.

  • Record executed assignments for U.S. patent applications via USPTO EPAS.

  • Coordinate with outside counsel and in-house attorneys to ensure all patent prosecution and formality deadlines are met.

  • Manage Information Disclosure Requirements using web-based IDS software. Monitor newly cited references, maintain library of cited references, generate IDS packages, and coordinate with in-house attorneys and outside counsel to ensure timely filing of Information Disclosure Statements.

  • Coordinate and work closely with other IP paralegals, corporate paralegals, and Legal Operations.

  • Support IP operations and legal team process improvements.

  • Schedule and attend meetings with the global IP team.

  • Manage IP department resources, subscriptions, tools, and technology as needed.

  • Work with the Legal Operations team on contract management, information governance, budgeting, billing, and other matters in support of the Legal IP team.

  • Support a variety of transactions as they arise and other Legal and Compliance team projects and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-5+ years IP paralegal experience in a law firm or in-house with a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company.

  • Flexible availability to attend meetings with a global IP team.

  • Knowledge of SyncIDS software preferred.
