Customer service experience.

Advanced skills working with MS Office products (Excel, Word, TEAMS , & Outlook).
Working knowledge of basic accounting/bookkeeping principles.
Ability to work evenings and weekends during peak periods.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of debt collection practices.
Working knowledge of SAP /Banner/TouchNet or other ERP systems.
Previous higher ed experience with a student services office.
Job Description
This position provides customer assistance to current and former students, parents, and external collection agencies regarding defaulted accounts, current student tuition & fees accounts, and collections payment plans. The position reconciles, process and records all student account payments and payment adjustments, such as returned items ( NSF ), chargebacks, collection agency payments, or third-party sponsorship payments. The position assists with internal collections process, as needed.
Job Duties
Provide customer assistance to current and former students, parents, and external collection agencies regarding defaulted accounts, current student tuition & fees accounts, and collections payment plans. Review, research, and evaluate financial aid information for current students and their ability to pay outstanding debt prior to enrollment for new term.
Process student account payments and adjustments, as well as departmental accounts for returned items ( NSF ), collection agency wire payments, or third-party sponsorship payments. Reconcile daily transactions and prepare items for deposit.
Assist with the internal collections process of defaulted accounts, including the negotiation of payment plans, providing information to agencies for account balance disputes, and auditing student accounts for accuracy of delinquent codes and notes.
Monitor the Collections email box. Respond to emails received from customers regarding past-due accounts or current tuition/fees bills and/or other SBS related processes in a timely manner.
Perform research and provide information as requested. Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned. Complete a minimum 9 hours of Staff Development training.
