The Job:

FCI is in search of a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Nuclear Division. This position will be responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing process improvements to our production line. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams like our Test Production, Engineering, and Quality to optimize the manufacturing process.

Who We Are Looking For:  

  • An experienced and talented Manufacturing Engineering who can develop improvement plans to increase efficiency and quality of our products.

  • The ideal candidate with a strong background in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering with the commitment to producing high quality work.

    What You’ll Do:

  • Develop process improvement plans from Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analyses to identify areas for enhancements and opportunities for optimizing production.

  • Collaborate with Design teams and Quality Assurance teams to ensure new and existing products are optimized for efficiency and receive feedback for manufacturing improvements.

  • Identify components at risk of obsolescence and develop strategies to mitigate future recurrence. 

  • Connect with suppliers and procurement teams to source alternative components or redesign parts to maintain our product continuity. 

  • Initiate efforts to enhance performance, reliability, and manufacturability of legacy products through iterative design improvements. 

  • Implement robust testing protocols to validate product performance and compliance with industry standards.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of manufacturing processes, design changes, and testing results.

    What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field with 2-5 years of work experience.

  • Proficiency in CAD software for design analysis and modification (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

  • Experience in GD&T and other measurement techniques. 

  • Strong knowledge of the manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, instrumentation assemblies, and testing.

  • Familiarity of one or more manufacturing principles, such as the Deming Philosophy, 6S, Kaizen, 6 sigma, Agile Lean, Scrum, 20 Keys, JIT or Lean.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence in the decision making. 

  • Experience with legacy product management and component lifecycle management is a plus. 

    Safety and Quality:

  • Responsible for ensuring safe work practices, provide employees safety training as required, participate in safety investigations, and resolve any safety issues. This includes all employees and supervisors are trained. 

    Physical/Travel Requirements

    This position requires bending, walking, standing, typing, sitting for extended periods of time while operating a computer and some lifting to a maximum of 50 lbs.  Little to no travel required.
