Who will you be working with?

Our Global Sourcing team is responsible for the management of Wabtec’s supply base and negotiating agreements according to the long-term strategy of the Company. Here you will partner with internal and external stakeholders to drive the sourcing strategy to ensure our employees can deliver to our business for our customers.

How will you make a difference?

As a member on our Mexico Sourcing team in our Global Sourcing Organization, you are responsible for building the strategy for your commodities to meet the operational needs of Wabtec. You will need to think creatively about how to establish relationships, mitigate risk and drive down costs for the business while monitoring and evaluating our suppliers’ capabilities, reliability, and quality to ensure that meet their contractual standards.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (5 years of cumulative experience in the below disciplines in lieu of the education requirement)

  • 5 years of experience in sourcing/fulfillment, program management, or supply chain.

  • Fluent English

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with an emphasis in Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

  • Broad supply chain knowledge to include knowledge of operations, fulfillment, procurement management, quality, and engineering processes.

  • Demonstrated negotiation and supplier management skills.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Drive margin improvement by creating and executing cost reduction negotiations and optimizing landed cost through control of logistics and tariff costs.

  • Drive cash improvement by extending supplier payment terms.

  • Support fulfillment and quality functional objectives by conducting supplier leadership reviews, recovering costs incurred associated with defects, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions related to delivery delays, eliminating premium transportation, and ensuring all purchase orders are promised in a timely manner.

  • Forecast deflation, tariffs, expense & investment spend and cash improvement.

  • Work across business units to identify synergy savings.

  • Develop and execute long term, global strategies for assigned sub-commodities.

  • Position the commodity for future success by ensuring each part has multiple suppliers and negotiating strategic long-term supply agreements.

  • Work closely with shop operations and commercial / product management teams to prioritize cost out efforts where needed on specific products and programs.

  • Monitor index trends monthly and drive appropriate action plans.

  • Manage RFQ, offer evaluation, negotiation and contracting.

  • Execute contract amendments and re-negotiations.

  • Escalate and resolve major supplier issues once escalated.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
