A Brief Overview

The Associate Legal Counsel advises and provides legal counseling and related support to departments, business, operational and administrative units of First BanCorp, FirstBank Puerto Rico, and its subsidiaries and affiliates in Puerto Rico, the United States and British Virgin Islands and Florida (the “Corporation”). Collaborates in the review, revision and drafting of contracts to be executed with t hird p art y vendors , customers and other stakeholders.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

· Advises and provides legal counseling and related support to the departments, business units, and administrative units of the Corporation .

· Reviews, revises, and drafts contracts to be executed with t hird p art y vendors of the Corporation .

· Collaborates in the negotiation of contracts to be executed with t hird p art y vendors and provides legal advice in contractual transactions of the Corporation.

· Analyzes and applies b anking, c ommercial transaction, and c orporate legal knowledge in legal issues involving the Corporation.

· Performs legal research of local and federal b anking, c ommercial transaction, and general c orporate l aws and regulations in relation to legal counseling to the Corporation. Drafts legal texts, including memoranda, based on legal research findings and recommendations.

· Assists in filing of trademark applications and other intellectual property matters for the Corporation .

· Assists in the drafting of Policies & Procedures of the Corporation .

· Provides Notary Public Services for corporate matters in the Corporation and subsidiaries in Puerto Rico.

Minimum Requirements You’ll Need:

· Juris Doctor and Notary Public, admitted to practice law , licensed and in good standing with the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico

· Between (1) one to (3) three years of in-house and/or law firm experience in general corporate and/or commercial matters

· Experience in contract drafting and contract review .

· Speak, comprehend and write in Spanish and English are required for this job

Skills We Are Looking For:

· Sound judgment , proactive and self -starter, with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others collaboratively in a fa st -paced environment

· Excellent organizational and time-management skills , and ability to work on multiple projects in a timely manner and deliver high-quality results

· Solid written and verbal communication skills

· Experience in the banking and/ or finance industry is a plus!
