Our School

French American + International is a PK-12 independent school in San Francisco.  Founded in 1962, the school is a multicultural, multilingual educational institution with over 1,100 students across an urban campus in the heart of the city.

Music Program Vision Statement

The French American + International music program seeks to foster a love of music in our students, create opportunities for students to grow their skills and perform in front of a variety of audiences, and make music an integral part of our community events and experiences . 

 

Position Overview

The Music director will oversee the maintenance and development of our programs by producing music performance events, supporting music and sound in performing arts and other school events, organizing space and equipment resources, and administering our conservatory program from individual lessons to ensembles to visiting artists.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Producing and supporting events – including music concerts, other arts events, and key school community traditions (for instance, Graduation)

  • Administering the Conservatory Program – overseeing the hiring, scheduling, and management of musicians to teach individual lessons, run ensembles, and act as visiting artists (the Music Director also runs several of the ensembles, such as Choir and/or Orchestra, depending on area of interest)

  • Teaching high school music classes 9th-12th grade, including 9th & 10th electives and 11th & 12th IB Music

  • Caring for, organizing, and overseeing space and equipment resources in the arts building

  • Collaborating with the entire arts faculty on supporting arts education at French American + International

    Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience

  • Bachelor’s degree  or equivalent in relevant field, Master’s degree preferred 

  • Experience producing music events and productions

  • Excellent communication skills with both students and parents 

  • Positive history of collegiality and collaboration with other teachers and administrators

Salary range for this position: $65,101 - $108,420 depending on experience and qualifications
