BlackRock Associate, Product Strategist in San Francisco, California

About this role

Position Overview:

The Systematic Fixed Income (SFI) Strategy Group in San Francisco is seeking a Strategist to work on the active and index fixed income businesses in the US. The Strategy group provides direct support to the sales teams, generates fixed income content to support clients, and contributes to the design and launch of new funds. This position will be expected to help provide detailed technical expertise both internally and externally to clients and prospects on BlackRock’s fixed income active and index strategies with institutional clients. As of December 31st, 2023, the Systematic Fixed Income team manages approximately $70B of active fixed income strategies and over $1.6 trillion of index assets.

The Fixed Income Strategy Group in San Francisco is seeking a Strategist to:

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of BlackRock’s active and index fixed income strategies.

  • Communicate to sales and clients the strategies’ performance results through fund commentaries and provide technical support on products

  • Support sales teams in the institutional channels in the representation of FI capabilities and products to clients, prospects, consultants, and other financial intermediaries

  • Work toward making team processes more efficient and innovative by using technology and other applications

  • Perform analytical and reporting work as needed to institutional sales including creation of marketing materials and completion of RFPs

  • Understand the competitive landscape and develop key points of differentiation for SFI’s strategies.

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of fixed income markets and mechanics, including both cash and derivative securities

  • Work with Portfolio Management, Trading, and Operations to ensure existing and new products can be efficiently manufactured

  • Contribute insight and ideas to enhance existing investment capabilities and develop new ones

Skills and Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience working on the buy or sell side, preferably in a fixed income or related role.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Team player

  • First degree in a quantitative, finance or economics discipline preferable

  • Comfortable with presentations to a group

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel

  • Coding experience with Python helpful and familiarity with Tableau a plus

  • Knowledge of Bloomberg and statistical packages a plus

For California only the salary range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
