Job Description:

We are seeking a Remote Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner licensed in Nevada to join our client's insurance team for a contract assignment. In this role, you will manage all aspects of a complex claims inventory with a focus on Nevada state requirements. This position demands a thorough understanding of Nevada workers' compensation laws and regulations, along with the necessary Nevada state licenses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Claims Management: Handle a variety of Nevada workers' compensation claims, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant processing.

  • Claims Investigation: Promptly investigate claims to determine exposure, collaborating with experts to gather and assess information specific to Nevada regulations.

  • Resolution Strategy: Use resolution tactics such as mediation, negotiation, denial, or litigation to proactively manage claims, adhering to Nevada workers' compensation guidelines.

  • Compliance: Operate strictly within Nevada state regulations and internal policies to ensure proper claims handling and settlement.

  • Litigation Management: Work closely with defense counsel through the litigation process, ensuring legal fees and costs align with Nevada litigation guidelines.

  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service through clear and timely communication with policyholders, agents, attorneys, and witnesses, especially regarding Nevada claims.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with other departments to discuss processes and projects, contributing to a collaborative team environment.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as an expert in Nevada workers' compensation claims processes, mentoring and training less experienced team members.

Nevada Workers’ Compensation Specific Responsibilities:

  • Benefit Administration: Administer and approve timely and appropriate benefits to injured workers in Nevada, managing payments in accordance with Nevada rules and company policies.

  • Reserve Management: Establish and adjust reserves in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with Nevada state policies.

  • Claims Resolution: Resolve claims fairly, equitably, and in line with Nevada state laws, ensuring that injured workers receive the benefits to which they are entitled.

  • Reporting: Prepare and present claims status reports for both internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on Nevada claims.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and provide training to less experienced team members, focusing on Nevada-specific claims processes.

  • Offer knowledge transfer and expert advice on best practices across the department, emphasizing Nevada workers' compensation regulations.

  • Continuously update technical skills through ongoing training and staying current on Nevada workers' compensation case law.

    Requirements

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Nevada Workers' Compensation License (REQUIRED).

  • Workers' Compensation Certification (WCCA/WCCP) preferred.

  • Additional state adjuster licenses may be required within a designated timeframe.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Nevada workers' compensation laws and jurisdictional requirements.

  • Excellent verbal communication, time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial, legal, and technical documents in line with Nevada workers' compensation laws.

  • Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and policy manuals.

  • Ability to effectively respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or the business community.

  • Strong technical skills with the ability to adapt to new technology and industry changes.
