Rady Children's Hospital San Diego Registered Nurse (RN), Critical Care Float Pool - Central Support in San Diego, California

Critical Care Float Pool

The Critical Care Float Pool at Rady Children’s Hospital provides the opportunity for nurses to work in all three of our intensive care units and provide unique and specialized care to the region’s most critically ill children.

Our 24-bed pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) admits more than 1,700 patients a year and has received a gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Only 4 PICUS in California and 12 across the Unted States earned gold-level accolades.

The 30-bed Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) is situated in a space solely devoted to cardiac care, providing all levels of inpatient care for congenital or acquired heart disease. Advanced care modalities include extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and a heart transplantation program that is thriving and demonstrates excellent outcomes.

The 60-bed, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) acts a major Level IV referral center for the most critically ill newborns, many of whom suffer from severe heart and lung conditions or are born extremely premature.

The critical care float pool offers an extensive orientation program tailored to each unit, including the PICU, CTICU and NICU. This program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training, ensuring nurses are fully equipped to meet the unique clinical demands of each unit. Float pool nurses will receive continuous education and mentoring, ensuring they stay current with best practices and maintain the versatility needed to excel across the intensive care units

Current CN II or CN III are welcome to apply.
