Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Electronics Hardware Engineer (Design/Procurement) OR Senior Principal Electronics Hardware Engineer (Design/Procurement) to support our Avionics Integration organization. The selected candidate will work with a team of engineers who are responsible for the architecture, design, and build of large data centers using commercially available IT equipment.

The position is located in Rancho Bernardo, CA and will require travel up to 25% of the time.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with engineers, facilitating hardware procurement to meet design requirements and program needs.

  • Documenting, developing and improving existing process

  • Monitoring and managing software licenses and support agreements, as well as their expiration dates

  • Organizing, tracking, documenting hardware movement

  • Generating and maintaining data center BoMs

  • Collaborate with system Architects on initial system design

  • Generate system Power requirements

This position can be filled at either the Principal Electronics Hardware Engineer (Design/Procurement) OR Senior Principal Electronics Hardware Engineer (Design/Procurement) level, depending upon the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Electronics Engineer (Design/Procurement):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of related engineering experience.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products

  • Active in-Scope, DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance once in position.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note: SAP/PAR will be upgraded once selected candidate is in role. Therefore, candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of related engineering experience.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products

  • Active in-Scope, DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance once in position.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note: SAP/PAR will be upgraded once selected candidate is in role. Therefore, candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR.)

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

  • Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.

  • Knowledge of procurement process and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).

  • Experience with building IT data centers and their design/architecture

  • Familiarity with Windows, Solaris, Linux, and other Oracle systems

  • Proficient in Excel, Visio, and VBA

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900

Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
