Labcorp Lab Assistant IV in San Diego, California

LabCorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in San Diego, CA. This role works in a high volume, production based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science.

Schedule:

Tuesday-Saturday from 3:00 AM to 11:30pm. Weekend rotation, holidays and over time as required.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • This is a multi-discipline position with 3 primary components: specimen accessioning, sample splitting/sorting and data entry.

  • Prepares laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratory analysis and testing and routes specimens by type to various staging areas.

  • Performs all paperwork, non-technical procedures required to process and submit specimens.

  • Assigns specific computer-generated identification numbers, checks for accuracy and records all items processed.

  • Operates data entry terminals and automated data systems, follows standard sequences/coding when entering data and corrects, edits, and/or verifies data entered automated systems.

  • Must be able to perform eSIS audits to resolve any outstanding problems

Requirements:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent w/1-2 years of experience

  • Previous medical/lab or production experience preferred

  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to pass a data entry test

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks

  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time

  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed

  • Ability to accurately identify specimens

  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens

Pay range : $17.50 - $20.00 per hour with a 3rd shift differential.
