JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for providing direct interface to customers, suppliers and product engineering organizations specially focused on Plastics Injection Molding process. Develops and implements Plastics Injection Molding processes, methods, tools, equipment, and controls for the manufacturer of products and components consistent with obtaining and maintaining design integrity, optimum costs, quality, inventories, and investment in facilities. Activities will include all aspects of prototype development and builds. Actively applies new manufacturing technologies and aggressively evaluates and reports on manufacturing opportunities which will contribute to the plant's objectives and goals. Participates in the product design activity to assure optimum productivity and costs. Maintains effective communications with all departments affected by projects and propose required engineering guidelines. Issues periodic status reports to keep management informed. Prepares manufacturing studies to determine optimum manufacturing costs, quality, and inventories and/or evaluates feasibility for new or existing products, processes or materials. Recommends changes for the most practical and economical manufacturing processes. Participates in selecting, approving, and developing tooling and equipment to satisfy manufacturing requirements and product design intent. Provides customer liaison as relates to product design and engineering matters. Ensures that all relevant tooling is capable of making required product to meet all timing and cosmetic goals. Oversees any inhouse tooling repair, necessary laser welding and hot runner maintenance. Also, coordinate contractor services for repairs by defining the scope and timeline. Maintain and issue status of all required reports of new programs, ie. checklist, issues list and feasibility assessments. Creates and maintains new program review documentation. Review and approve process parameter changes to counteract quality defects. Serve as a key contributor by analyzing production capacity to provide insight on future business opportunities, insource/outsource decisions and introduction of new programs to global business management. Review and design daily production schedule to assist injection molding operations. Administer molding manufacturing process by creating process programs preferably in RJG eDart and coordinate troubleshooting to reduce scrap. Audit process lockdown parameters to maintain design integrity of parts. Design and write robot programs to efficiently pick up parts as well as configure EOAT (end of arm tooling) to minimize cycle time in compliance with safety and quality standards. Identify critical spare parts of the molding tools and define inventory level to be maintained. Control and regulate inventory level of critical spare parts by auditing. Enhance plants layout by efficiently utilizing space and equipment footprint. Determine plant expansion requirement with upcoming programs and assist plant design if required. Writing and submitting Capital Appropriation Request (CAR) for new equipment demand along with budget preparation. Maintain timeline to achieve capital project milestones using Microsoft Project toward coordinating multi-departmental activities. Spearhead problem solving projects by using technical tools such as Toyota Production System (TPS), 8D, A3 etc. No Telecommuting Allowed.
REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a bachelors degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 1 year of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Industrial Engineer, or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) AutoCAD; (2) Line balancing; (3) Robot Programming; (4) Process sequencing; and (5) Le n Manufacturing.
