What is DoD Skill Bridge?

The Skill Bridge program is designed to connect retiring or transitioning service members during their final 180 days in uniform with various corporations in the civilian sector. This is an unpaid internship, as the Service Member will continue to be paid by their servicing military pay office. Service Members must gain concurrence from their chain of command prior to beginning this program. As the Service Member/intern nears their actual retirement or ETS date, some Skill Bridge interns may be offered full time careers in the position they interned in.     Summary :

    Vighter is recruiting a Human Resources (HR) Specialist to support the workforce while ensuring compliance with employment laws and policies. They assist with recruiting, onboarding, and retaining employees while fostering a positive workplace culture. Core duties include: coordinating recruitment efforts, managing employee relations, conducting performance evaluations, administering benefits and overseeing compensation programs. HR Specialists also provide guidance on company policies, resolve workplace conflicts, and support organizational growth through training and development initiatives. This role requires excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, as well as a strong understanding of HR best practices and regulations.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Creates, implements, and evaluates all human resource department policies, procedures, and structures.

  • Administration of corporate benefit programs.

  • Designs and implements effective training and development plans.

  • Coordinates Worker’s Compensation paperwork.

  • Ensures all employee records are maintained and updated with new hire information or changes in employment status.

  • Identifies the company's hiring needs and manages the recruitment process to ensure it runs smoothly.

  • Oversee the compensation programs and update as needed.

  • Managing employee relations.

  • Administration of the employee performance evaluation program

  • Responds to employee queries and resolve workplace conflicts and/or other issues in a professional manner.

  • Responsible for compliance with state workforce regulations.

  • Conduct Verifications of employment for former employees.

  • Assists with reports and analyzing data.

  • Must have exceptional customer service skills.

  • Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.

    Education & Experience :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years proven experience in a similar role.

  • Paycom experience is strongly preferred.

  • Benefits experience is strongly preferred.

  • Worker’s Compensation experience is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of labor legislation and payroll processes.

  • Good understanding of the full recruitment process.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

  • Solid problem-solving and team management abilities.

    Physical Requirements :

  • Must be able to sit for more than 8 hours per day.

  • Must be willing to work overtime if necessary.

  • Must be able, with advance notice to float to surgical sites within 15 miles.

  • Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs.

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet.

  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders

  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print

  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear

  • Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation

  • Must undergo Urine Drug Screening (UDS).

Qualifications

Education & Experience :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience in marketing, business development and/or sales functions.

  • Ability to conduct research on a variety of topics.
